Lukes & Lukes is an independent machinery and equipment appraisal firm that works the whole country. In the high-cost coastal and metro markets especially, our all-in quote, travel included, often comes in under a local appraiser's for the same USPAP-compliant, defensible report. When a job justifies the trip we come to you; when it does not, we deploy a certified appraiser already on the ground in your market and sign the report ourselves.
How out-of-market works
The number is the same. The bill is not.
A defensible equipment appraisal follows the same standard everywhere: USPAP, prepared by a certified appraiser, built to withstand lender, SBA, IRS, audit and legal review. What changes market to market is the price of getting it. In New York, Los Angeles and the Bay Area, local appraisal fees carry local overhead. We do not. We price the work on Midwest overhead, quote it all in with travel included, and keep one standard and one report format wherever the collateral sits. For markets where the trip does not pencil out, a certified machinery and equipment appraiser already working that metro handles the inspection and we prepare and sign the report.
