What we appraise

Which industries do we appraise?

All of them. We organize the work under three hard specialties so the expertise runs deep where the assets are complex, and every other industry is appraised under general machinery and equipment. Start with the specialty closest to your assets.

01

Healthcare, Medical & Dental

Diagnostic imaging (MRI, CT, X-ray, ultrasound), surgical and operating-room equipment, dental and orthodontic, laboratory and diagnostics, patient monitoring, sterilization, ophthalmology and dialysis, for hospitals, clinics and practices.

How the specialties work

If your assets are not listed, they still fit.

Three specialties are not a limit, they are an organizing principle. A brewery, a print shop, a machine shop and a logistics yard all sit under general machinery and equipment. An imaging center sits under healthcare. A collision center sits under automotive. Whatever the asset, it tucks under one of the three, and the same USPAP discipline and certified appraiser apply.

See how a number is built

  • Healthcare, medical & dental: anything hospital, clinic, practice or laboratory
  • Automotive: anything dealership, service, collision, fleet or shop
  • General machinery & equipment: manufacturing, fabrication, processing, construction and everything else
  • One standard across all three: independent, USPAP-compliant, prepared by a NEBB-certified Machinery & Equipment Appraiser (CMEA)

Then the situation

The specialty tells us the assets. The situation tells us the premise.

Once we know the equipment, the reason for the appraisal sets the premise of value: a loan, an SBA deal, a wind-down, an acquisition, a dispute, an insurance schedule or a tax filing. Every specialty connects to the situations that drive the work.

Common questions

Answers, up front.

Which industries do you appraise?

All of them. We organize equipment appraisal under three specialties: healthcare, medical and dental; automotive; and general machinery and equipment. Manufacturing, fabrication, food processing, construction, printing, plastics and other industries are appraised under general machinery and equipment. Whatever the asset, it fits under one of the three.

What if my equipment does not fit one of the three specialties?

It still fits. The three specialties are an organizing principle, not a limit. Specialized clinical and automotive assets get their own hubs because they are complex; everything else is appraised under general machinery and equipment, to the same USPAP standard by the same certified appraiser.

Do you appraise equipment nationwide?

Yes. Lukes & Lukes is a national machinery and equipment appraisal firm. We work as a desktop appraisal from your asset list and photographs, or on-site across one or more locations, anywhere in the United States.

Are your appraisals accepted by banks, the IRS and the courts?

Yes. Every report is USPAP-compliant, prepared by a NEBB-certified Machinery & Equipment Appraiser (CMEA), and built to withstand lender, SBA, IRS, audit and legal review, regardless of the specialty.
