Auto dealership and service shop equipment appraisals.

A dealership equipment appraisal from Lukes & Lukes is an independent, USPAP-compliant opinion of value for the service, shop and collision assets that run a store. We value lifts, alignment racks, ADAS calibration and diagnostic systems, tire and brake equipment, and body-shop assets by age, condition, brand and the active secondary market. Built to withstand lender, SBA, IRS, audit and legal review.

What we appraise

The equipment behind the service drive.

The vehicles turn over, but the fixed equipment is the asset a lender, a buyer or a court actually looks at. We appraise the service and shop equipment that stays with the store, from a single bay to a multi-rooftop group, and value each item on its own market.

Back to automotive

  • Lifts and hoists: two-post, four-post, scissor and in-ground, by capacity and condition.
  • Alignment and tire equipment: alignment racks, tire changers, balancers and lifts.
  • ADAS and diagnostics: calibration systems, scan tools and programming equipment.
  • Collision and body shop: frame machines, spray booths, welders and prep stations.
  • Shop support: air compressors, fluid systems, lube equipment and waste handling.
  • Special tools and fixtures: brand-specific essential and special-service tooling.

What drives the number

Brand, capacity and the install all matter.

Two shops with the same equipment list can carry very different values. Lift capacity and certification status, the age and brand of alignment and ADAS systems, spray-booth condition and code compliance, and the cost to remove and re-install fixed assets all move the number. Franchise and brand-mandated equipment trades differently from generic shop gear, and we value it accordingly.

Which value applies

The right premise for the situation.

The same shop carries different numbers depending on why you need the appraisal. We determine and defend the premise your situation requires.

Common questions

Answers, up front.

What dealership assets do you appraise?

The fixed service, shop and collision equipment that stays with the store: lifts and hoists, alignment racks, tire and brake equipment, ADAS calibration and diagnostic systems, frame machines, spray booths, compressors, and brand-specific special tooling. We appraise the equipment, not the rolling vehicle inventory.

Do you appraise collision and body-shop equipment?

Yes. We value frame and measuring systems, spray booths, welders, prep stations and the supporting shop equipment, accounting for age, condition, code compliance and the cost to remove and re-install fixed assets.

Which value should I ask for?

It depends on the purpose. Lending and SBA files often call for orderly liquidation value (OLV) or net orderly liquidation value (NOLV). A purchase or sale usually calls for fair market value (FMV). Tell us why you need the appraisal and we will identify the correct premise.

Are these appraisals accepted by lenders, the SBA and the courts?

Yes. Reports are USPAP-compliant, prepared by a NEBB-certified Machinery & Equipment Appraiser (CMEA), and built to withstand lender, SBA, IRS, audit and legal review.
